To teach a first-grade lesson which would include the following skills components:
· Expand comprehension by questioning ideas and information; then revisit the questions to confirm whether they were answered in the story.
· Model the following comprehension strategies: checking for understanding, crosschecking, inferring, and synthesizing.
· Model fluent reading, using appropriate phrasing, pacing and pausing.
· Model the process of selecting a writing plan, choosing words, and writing sentences to begin an original story.
· Brainstorm possible story topics, choose a topic and include relevant details.
· Write in a variety of forms, including narratives and recounts.
To demonstrate strategies for involving and engaging all students.
